The Digestive Health Clinic Inc was founded by Dr. Pardeep Nijhawan M.D., F.R.C.P.(C), F.A.C.G. after he graduated from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr Nijhawan completed his medical school training at the University of Ottawa. He then proceeded to complete his Internal Medicine Internship at Yale-Norwalk, CT. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
At the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Nijhawan presented multiple research papers at scientific meetings and published multiple lead articles in journals and textbooks. While at the Mayo Clinic, he was awarded the Calgary Fellowship for outstanding achievements.
Dr. Nijhawan established The Digestive Health Clinic Inc to help bring leading edge technology to Canada. Its goal is to provide Canadians with the latest ground-breaking advancements in the field of Gastroenterology. He specializes in therapeutic endoscopy.
Currently, The Digestive Health Clinic Inc. is offering the PillCam Capsule Endoscopy. This technology will allow the examination of the small bowel for the first time. Prior to this, patients were subjected to x-rays that provided very little useful information. In addition, patients had to drink a ‘chalk-like’ drink and wait for several hours at the radiology facility as the contrast passed through the small bowel. Other unfortunate patients had surgical explorations to find problems in their intestine. Not only did this procedure carry risks of the surgery and anesthesia, but it left patients with permanent scars on their abdomens.
Now, a simple capsule makes the test comfortable and more accurate in diagnosing any intestinal pathology. No more sedation. No more preparations. No more surgeries. The way of the medical future is here today.
