Q1. If my appointment is in the morning, can I take all 4 sachets of Klean Prep the evening before my appointment?
A1. Yes, we actually recommend that patients try to take all 4 sachets the evening before an early morning appointment.

Q2. How do I prepare for a hemorrhoid ligation treatment?
A2. There is no preparation required.

Q3. How long will I be at the clinic if I am having a procedure?
A3. Patients having procedures can expect to be at the clinic for 2.5 hours.

Q4. Can I drive myself to the clinic if I am having a procedure?
A4. Most patients choose to have sedation to make the procedure more comfortable. If you would like to be sedated then you must arrange for transportation to and from the clinic.

Q5. Will my Family Physician receive the results from my procedure?
A5. Yes, your family physician will receive a report from our office.

Q6. How long does it take to receive the biopsy results?
A6. Generally, it takes three weeks to receive the results from the lab.

Q7. How do I make an appointment?
A7. We require a referral from your Family Physician in order to book an appointment.

Q8. Do I take my daily medications on the day of the procedure?
A8. Please consult your physician about the use of medication during the preparation period. Heart, blood pressure, asthma and epilepsy medication may be taken in the morning as usual.

Q9. What does the hemorrhoid treatment involve?
A9. This treatment involves the application of a latex band around the neck of the hemorrhoid and/or freezing the hemorrhoid with a cryoprobe. The band may then be removed after the freezing. This procedure usually involves some short lived pain, sometimes however it lasts from hours to days. Most patients return to work and resume normal activities the same day. Treatments may involve 3 or more visits. The hemorrhoid recurrence rate is 15%.
