Lactose Intolerance Test

Description

The Lactose Intolerance Test is a test for detecting intolerance to lactose sugar (intolerance to milk and milk products). During the test, the patient will be asked to drink milk and exhale into a device every 30 minutes for a total of 3 hours to monitor Hydrogen levels. The duration of the appointment may last for approximately 3 to 3.5 hours.

Note this test is only available at the Richmond Hill location.

Criteria

Test must be done at a minimum of 2 weeks after receiving sedation.

Preparation

You must fast for a minimum of 12 hours before the time of your appointment. This includes no chewing gum, brushing your teeth, smoking, and vigorous exercise, on the day of the test and during the test.

Fee

Note this test is not covered by OHIP. A $120.00 fee is payable by debit or credit card prior to the appointment. HST will not be added to this fee.
